Next time you buy a pair of sneaks, why not leave the shoes in the shop and take the box home instead? These replica sneakers, made from shoeboxes were made by I Have Pop in association with Solebox. How meta! Perfect for a Taoist funeral. (via Josh Spear)

If you’re embarrassed by your Bluetooth headset (and if you aren’t, you really should be) – download our paper model of the original Motorola DynaTAC 800s here. It should cover up the problem nicely.

To mark the launch of Arjowiggins new Inuit paper range a bespoke typeface has been commissioned inspired by the evocative forms and personality of the Inuktitut alphabet (Old Eskimo alphabet). It’s the result of a collaboration between Arjowiggins, design agency Blast and typographer Jeremy Tankard. It features alternate characters and extra ligatures, and has been carefully crafted to reflect the Inuit culture and simplistic lifestyle.

Hair Raising is an exhibition running at the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art featuring art made of, and about, human hair. The exhibition identity was designed and hand-sewn by Sandy Suffield, using the hair from several willing volunteers in the design studio. The technique is one that Sandy has made her own and will feature on an upcoming range of Howies T-shirts and sweatshirts. The other examples shown are from a piece using cotton thread on a paper bag to illustrate a quote from her big sister, then aged four. It broke a two week silence after moving from England to the U.S. in 1970 and was delivered in a broad Californian accent.

Chad Doane has designed some neat paper in response to a product design meeting where he noticed half the people using graph paper and the other half using legal pads. He’s mixed the two and the result is rather nice. It’s not yet available to order but you can download it for free. Link
