Arch minimalist John Pawson would probably never hold a yard sale but if he did, I imagine it would look a little like Absolute Sellout. Forget boxes of dusty VHS tapes, think one VHS tape surrounded by white space.
According to Josh, they “curate rare and often overlooked items from the past century—occasionally repackaging, restructuring, or rebranding these items”.
Unfortunately Terence Conran’s 1974 House Book is sold already but there are plenty of other gems if you’re quick.

At noon tomorrow Barack Obama places his hand on the bible and takes his oath of office. CNN, with a little help from Microsoft’s Photosynth and a million friends, plan to create the most detailed experience of a single moment ever. They are asking everyone attending the inauguration to take a photo at noon and send it to them. They will then use Photosynth to stitch all the shots together in a 3D space which should be spectacular – let’s hope it’s more successful than John King’s virtual pie chart.
Of course they could crowd-sorce video footage too, as Michel Gondry did for the live video of Daft Punk’s HARDER BETTER FASTER STRONGER. Maybe next time.

You’d think the fact that I’m too old, too short, a pacifist and oh yeah, English, may effect my chances of being an officer in the Swedish Armed Forces, but apparently not! According to the results from a series of exercises testing your multi-tasking skills, your spacial awareness, you concentration and memory, I may have what it takes! A great site, well put together, lovely graphics and great sound, plug in your headphones and see how you get on. Link

Blogging is ten years old this week! Jorn Barger of Robot Wisdom coined the term “weblog” Dec. 17, 1997 and the rest, as they blog, was history. As you can see Jorn hasn’t shaved since 1997, presumably because he’s been too busy blogging. Wired News asked Jorn to share his top ten tips for bloggers. Many Happy Returns (or trackbacks) Jorn! Weare is a fascinating collision of clothing and technology with a simple philosophy - everyone should be able to participate in fashion.
Moving Brands launched Weare with a socially networked and user created scarf. The Moving Brands ecosystem of friends, colleagues and clients were invited to submit images to a window gallery at the Moving Brands studio. This sequence of images was then used to create the Weare scarf. The limited edition, collectible scarf is available to buy online from Moving Brands or in selected design-led shops in London throughout December and January 2008.
Aspiring designers and contributors can create images for the next Weare product – to be produced early in 2008 – by visiting weare.movingbrands.com.
These images will be shown at the Weare exhibition (online and Moving Brands window display) from December 2007 to March 2008. As well as creating images, contributors will also be able to vote for what the next Weare product should be.
In the interest of full disclosure I am the lucky owner of scarf 203 of 1000 and I used to work at Moving Brands. Not that that should stop you checking them out.

Stella Artois has just re-launched their site with a delicious piece of typographic film inspired by 1920’s poster typography. Artois has produced a flurry of great work lately (see here, here) and the animation is as striking and witty as any of their print ads. The film works as a tour around the site that brings together existing and new content including all the commercials. Link

A round of applause to all involved in the new Sony Bravia ad ie. Fallon and Passion Pictures. The 3rd in the Sony Bravia series is apparently the most ambitious piece of stop-motion animation every undertaken! Filmed over 3 weeks in New York, using 40 animators and 2.5 tonnes of plasticine with a killer Stones soundtrack, it has to be my fovourite so far. Watch the ad and some behind the scenes business here. I love the smell of Play Doh in the morning!
