What’s on Kurt Cobain’s iPod?

Andrea Heller & Paul Harper commissioned a clairvoyant to contact 10 dead rock stars to find out their current musical tastes. I think the clairvoyant – Steve, must be very professional because his name isn’t theatrical like “The Great Steve”. Anyway, the resulting booklet is Death Disco. It’s published by the wonderful Nieves – Swiss, independent and chock full of great artists’ books and zines.

Kurt would never put “Teen Spirit” at his iPod. That specific song made him famous all over the world, and that was the beginning of the end.
I personally think Kurt would put “Rape Me” on his iPod… It was one of his more ‘revolutionar’ songs. Maybe Kurt was a kind of Jesus, but he didn’t know how to deal with the responsibility that contains that he spoke for thousands of teenagers…He was just saying “fuck you!” to the society.
But Teen Spirit’s succes made him crazy; it made him a popstar, and he became an idol of that society that he hated… That’s why he commited suicide.
If you really like Kurt, you should know this.
But I think you aren’t a really, because of this iPod-Playinglist. I’m disappointed that people are remembering Kurt in a wrong way. He was just a boy, living a man’s life.

(Excuse me for my writing, but I’m from Holland… I’m just a bit familiar with the English language…)
