Eric Gill Wood Engravings

So there I was, driving along the leafy lanes of Somerset when I spotted a yellow sign ‘Eric Gill exhibition’, well, I wasn’t in a rush so I followed them and arrived at the John Leach Gallery, a lovely little gallery set in picturesque thatched surroundings. The exhibition is of Eric Gill’s wood engravings, 1927 to 1933, whilst not all my cup of tea, many of them are beautiful and I was blown away by the fact that you can buy them, beautifully framed for as little as £50! I am now the proud owner of these 3, originally I was thinking Christmas presents but when they were delivered I thought no way and so they’re now on my wall!! You can view more of the prints here. All prints are printed from original blocks or plates in a numbered edition of 400, most engravings had originally been produced for book illustrations, pamphlets, book plates etc.. The exhibition is on until the 9th January.
